![]() P.O. BOX 2153 KILMARNOCK, VIRGINIA 22482 Colin Whitlow, President Lancaster High School Key Club Box 123 Lancaster, Virginia 22503 November 16, 1999 As president of the Kilmarnock Chamber of Commerce, I would like to add my support of the upcoming Leadership Seminar to be held at Lancaster High School on Saturday, January 15, 2000. Our board is very excited about the offering and the program. It dovetails well with our future desired plans for supporting our local area students. We hope to have fund raisers for scholarships in our programming starting this winter. Also, we are investigating a signature program, such as Presidential Classroom, to be co-sponsored with other interested organizations. We are happy that we will be able to track student participation through your web page and will assign cumulative points to participants as one of the ways to base our decisions on future scholarship awards and in making selections for other special academic sponsorships that the board and membership may offer in the future. We appreciate having a good bit of the philosophy and flavor of the underlying base for the seminar in advance on your web page. Clearly, it is a powerful offering to the education of our young people, and I would hope that parents would encourage their child to sign up, not for the scholarship points or the monetary prizes to be awarded during the seminar, but because these types of skills are needed for their future career and vocational success. This is, to my knowledge, not offered in any venue in the public educational system. It is truly a good partnership, and I can see why the schools are excited about this new program in its pilot year. I wish you every success in the program and commend you for your initiative. This is one of the most innovative Key Clubs we have seen in the history of the organization, since its establishment at Lancaster High School. Wishing you every success, ![]() President, Kilmarncock Chamber of Commerce |
